Our Firm

The Law Offices of Johanna Herrero was established by founder, Johanna Herrero, and is a Boston-based immigration law firm with a nation-wide practice, focusing primarily on removal defense, naturalization, and family-based immigration. The firm practices in family and probate court and state criminal court to the extent required for immigration representation at the Executive Office for Immigration Review. 

Attorneys at the Law Offices of Johanna Herrero practice solely in immigration law and emphasize the importance of an efficient and results-oriented approach to representation and client services. Because this is our only area of practice, you will receive the highest level expertise, attention, and experience in immigration law, from our three full time Immigration attorneys.

JUSTIN FYTEN

Justin is a staff attorney at the Law Offices of Johanna Herrero. He is a graduate of New England School of Law.  As the son of an immigrant from the Netherlands, immigration law has always been a passion of Justin’s.  Justin joined the firm with extensive experience with USCIS and EOIR, including provisional unlawful presence waivers, waivers of inadmissibility, adjustment of status, naturalization, and motions before immigration court. While attending New England School of Law, Justin participated in a semester-long immigration law clinic at a Boston-based immigration firm.  He also volunteered with the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA) doing pro bono work to help immigrants with their applications for lawful permanent residence and for naturalization.  After graduating, Justin clerked at an immigration law firm in downtown Boston.Justin’s work with the Law Offices of Johanna Herrero has a particular emphasis on the firm’s provisional unlawful presence waivers, motions to reopen before the immigration court, and applications for asylum, withholding of removal, and protection under the Convention Against Torture.

Kendell is an Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Johanna Herrero. She is a 2014 graduate of New England Law|Boston. Kendell joined the firm with extensive experience with USCIS and EOIR, as well as the family court process including provisional unlawful presence waivers, waivers of inadmissibility, adjustment of status, naturalization, and motions before the Immigration Court. While attending New England Law|Boston, Kendell received a fellowship allowing her to work for the Irish International Immigrant Center (IIIC). Kendell also participated in a semester-long immigration law clinic and a semester-long administrative law clinic, both of which focused on immigration law in both a public interest organization and a private Boston immigration firm. During law school, Kendell served as a legal research assistant focusing on women's issues and human trafficking as they relate to American immigration law. She also interned for a semester at Suffolk Probate and Family Court and volunteered with the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA) doing pro bono work to help immigrants with their applications for naturalization. Kendell's work with the Law Offices of Johanna Herrero has a particular emphasis on the firm’s younger clients through the Special Immigrant Juvenile process in both Massachusetts Probate and Family Court as well as before USCIS and EOIR. She also focuses on U visas and VAWA applications as well as provisional unlawful presence waivers, adjustments of status, naturalization, and motions at the Executive Officer for Immigration Review

JINYAN WANG

Jinyan is an Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Johanna Herrero. She graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in Canada and is licensed to practice immigration law in Massachusetts, New York and Ontario. As an immigrant from China, Jinyan has a deep understanding of the struggles of immigrant community and is dedicated to advocating for immigrant families and asylum seekers.

Jinyan’s work at the Law Offices of Johanna Herrero focuses on waivers of unlawful presence, family-based petitions, adjustment of status, naturalization, response to Request for Evidence (RFE)/Notice of Intent to Deny (NOID) and appeals before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), as well as asylum applications, withholding of removal, protection under the Convention against Torture, cancellation of removal and motions to reopen before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR).

Before joining the firm, Jinyan clerked at the Ministry of Attorney General of Ontario, providing legal advice to government agencies on statute interpretation, evaluation of Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) applications and appeals to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario on government’s decisions on information release. While studying in law school, Jinyan participated in an 8-month Intensive Clinical Program at Parkdale Community Legal Services, where she provided pro-bono legal services to low-income immigrants on family-reunification applications for refugees, humanitarian and compassionate applications, permanent residence applications, citizenship applications and Pre-Removal Risk Assessments (similar to Cancellation of Removal in the U.S.). Jinyan also volunteered as a legal intern for the Family Law Project of Pro Bono Students Canada and the Justice and Corporate Accountability Project of Osgoode Hall Law School. Jinyan was awarded the Prize in Refugee Law by the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers in 2016.
